Types of Poker Games
Poker is one of the oldest games around and it is a favorite with players of all ages from all walks of life. Poker has a long history, going back at least as far as ancient China when it was used as an agricultural tool. Today, poker continues to be a popular game, especially in the United States. There are many variations on the original game such as Texas Holdem and Five Card Stud.
Seven-Card Stud is a variation of five-card stud with seven cards instead of five. This allows a player to use a wider variety of chips, which can include jacks, Omaha HiLo. This makes Seven Card Stud a very popular game for players who like to change things up and do not like playing with the same hand/card combinations over. In seven-card stud poker the player will either receive two cards face up or four cards face down.
Draw Poker is also a popular version of poker where the player receives a hand and then chooses from among the available cards. If the player has no cards they will get one from the pot and the other players will have their cards dealt five cards to five. Draw Poker is often considered a poor quality poker game because it does not allow a player an option to check or bluff. This means that the player will usually have to rely on their ability to decide between hands without having to rely on skill. It can also be a quite slow paced game.
